Thermographic Surveys

Thermographic Surveys are conducted on and to detect: :

  • Electrical panels
  • Wiring distribution centers
  • Heat loss, roofs for example
  • Mechanical defects
  • Current load imbalances
  • Hot Wires, fuses, disconnects, and other electrical devices

Infrared Thermography:

  • Diverse Applications: Anything that has a difference in temperature can be surveyed by Infrared Thermography.
  • Electrical Hot Spots: Electrical trouble spots provide the ideal application for infrared thermography.
  • Simplicity and Efficiency: The simplicity of applying the infra-red equipment to electrical apparatus allows a large number of potential trouble points to be checked in a relatively short period of time.

The IR Report: In generating a report, Schulz can analyze and present the most accurate temperature of hot spots as compared to the temperature of the surrounding area that is being looked at, and the ambient temperature for the that type of material.

Field Service Technician Don Geissler has been with Schulz Electric Company for over 13 years and is a certified thermographer. Don is efficient in all facets of troubleshooting electrical and electronic problems. Don utilizes the IR Snap Shot by Infrared Solutions which is a computer based imaging radiometer.

EXAMPLE of IR BENEFITS:

Gone Undetected, 500,000 CT Residents Could Have Lost Power.  An Infrared Thermography Survey Prevented The Failure.

Hold Your Mouse over the photograph below to see the HOT SPOT Schulz Technician Mark Hotkowski discovered while conducting an IR survey. Mark reported the finding and repairs were immediately made.  Had the IR survey not been conducted, hundreds of thousands of CT residents could have lost power.

Click the photo above to see the infrared camera's point of view.

The IR survey performed was able to show a significant potential problem in the disconnect jaw pictured above. Infrared Thermography is also perfect for smaller scaled projects such as heat loss, loose electrical connections, and water leaks.

Line Disturbance Analysis
