Vertical Test Stand
Schulz Electric's vertical test stand is capable of absorbing up to 8,000 lb-ft of torque at continuous load rating (max 1500 hp @ 800 rpm). Schulz can also develop speed torque curves and perform locked rotor testing utilizing this vertical test stand.
Test Bed for No-Load Operation Run Test of Vertical Motors
Schulz Electric's test bed, engineered for 100,000lbs, was specifically designed for large vertical motors. In response to increasing customer demands, Schulz had the test bed designed, professionally installed and precision leveled so that we can better meet your needs, and exceed your expectations. As seen to the right, the test bed features 2 hole sizes to accommodate various sized vertical motors. The test bed was set on a bed of steel pads anchored in high-tensile (5000 PSI) concrete, bolted down and grouted, during the Christmas/New Year's holiday period of 2005/2006. This time period was chosen to avoid any delays in the final testing of work in progress.
EQ Harsh Environment System
Schulz Electric offers environmentally qualified form and random wound insulation systems for rewinding harsh environment EQ motors, or for incorporation with new motors. The 4.2kV insulation systems is qualified for use in harsh environments outside containment that may be exposed to a MSLB/HELB with peak temperatures of us to 395 degrees F at peak pressures of up to 70 psig. The 600V system is qualified for inside containment LOCA conditions with peak temperatures of 425 degrees F and 77 psig. The 600V system is available for intermittent duty motors (MOV).

Schulz Electric has performed work for every nuclear utility in the United States. Schulz Electric has completed hundreds of safety-related jobs since 1994. This work has ranged from supplying new large EQ safety related motors, performing contaminated motor repair, to repairing and testing MOV's. We have developed and maintain a highly extensive 10CFR50 Appendix B QA program, which allows us to perform safety-related repairs and commercial grade dedications.
What our clients are saying:
"It is truly a pleasure to deal with people who share your goals relating to quality service."
"It is nice to know we have vendors such as you that we can rely on."
Schulz Electric Radiation Workers have undergone training and have all passed written examinations. Routine monitoring for radioactive contamination is performed throughout the entire facility. Along with the Radiation Safety Officer, trained radiation workers receive and survey incoming motors that may potentially be contaminated.
Schulz Electric has developed and maintains a highly extensive 10CFR50 Appendix B QA program which allows Schulz to perform safety-related repairs and commercial grade dedications.
Supply of New Safety-Related Motors, Commercial Grade Dedication
When it's not cost effective to repair a safety-related motor,or when a spare motor is needed, Schulz Electric incorporates one of the most rigorous, in depth, motor dedication programs available to the industry. Full-load testing is performed on every motor dedicated by Schulz Electric, including elevated or reduced voltage testing and locked rotor testing when required. Now with our harsh environment system approved, Schulz Electric can meet your Environmentally Qualified needs and provide safety-related/environmentally qualified harsh environment motors.
High Quality, Cost Effective Solutions for MOV Dilemmas
MOV Testing - We have provided the most in-depth testing of motor operated valve motors in the industry, from reduced voltage started in extreme temperature, to locked rotor testing. Utilizing our state of the art ADAMS tester, and our Harsh Environment Qualified System, Schulz Electric can meet every need in the industry.
Rewind - With Schulz Electric's EQ insulation system for MOVs, why not have your MOVs rewound instead of buying new motors? It is a quick, cost effective, easy solution.
Turnaround Time - Schulz consistently outperforms the industry's standard and emergency turnaround times. Schulz Electric can repair your MOVs in record time during an emergency.
Repair - Schulz Electric can manufacture and replace shafts of AISI 4140 material for those MOV motors that have had keys replaced with AISI 4140 material in high impact loading applications (IN 94-10).
Testing - Schulz Electric has tested over 150 safety-related MOV motors. Reduced voltage testing, increased ambient temperature testing, speed/torque curves. Every valve motor rewound by Schulz is tested on one of our dynamometers. If you have a low margin application, we'll develop actual speed/torque curves for the motor to support your 89-10 program.
